Just a short post, as this was not a travel day.
Something I learned on a previous trip was that I could carry a lot less weight if I planned in a washing stop half way through. A way to do that is to find an apartment with a washing machine. Szczecin was the chosen spot for this.
I started the day with a trip back to the station. I am a bit worried about tomorrow’s first train, which seems to show differently depending on where you looked. A conversation in the Interrail Facebook group a few weeks ago didn’t provide any definitive answers beyond that they were running a modified timetable due to works on the line.
I spoke to someone in the booking office who confirmed that the service was running and that I would be able to take my proposed route.

Suitably reassured, I exited the station on the opposite side close to the river. I rather liked this memorial to lost railway workers.

The bridge I had arrived over yesterday turned out to be a moving structure, but sadly there were no boats on the move so I didn’t see this.

Heading towards the city I passed firstly a rather fine piece of urban art (which was not as I had first assumed, a memorial.) The buildings are very typically Polish.

The castle that I had seen last night was quite impressive by day.

Nearby I saw this rather odd double arch. I’m not quite sure what it was (it is now a cafe) but there are a couple of them dotted around on roundabouts. I can only think it might be an elaborate coach (or tram) stop.

Tonight’s concert venue was even more dramatic than the one a couple of evenings ago. The photo at the top of this post is the exterior. The interior of the hall appeared to be partially coated in gold leaf!

It was another lovely evening and afterwards I got some time with my dear friend Anna, who introduced me to Makoto and his Trifinity group, and we talked of assorted musical adventures over the years.
I’m hoping to see Makoto again in London next month, playing Gershwin with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
