One year on

Today marks a year since I set off on the first of my six Interrail adventures in 2023. I’ve been looking back at the posts I added at the time, and at the many photos and videos that didn’t make it onto the diary.

Digital nomad? Not exactly, but I’m working on it!

I thought it might be interesting to reflect on a side of this year’s travels that I’ve only touched on in my diary so far, working from a different place every day.

8th September – a new way across the Channel on the final day of the trip

Bruges – Ostende – De Panne – London Victoria – London Euston – Crewe – Wrenbury

7th September – a first visit to beautiful Bruges

6th September – a last minute change of direction

5th September – out of Italy and on to Ljubljana

Trieste Centrale – Ljubljana

4th September – back on the move, to Trieste

Firenze SMN – Bologna Centrale – Venezia Mestre – Mogliano Veneto – Venezia Mestre – Trieste

3rd September – an adventure in Arezzo

2nd September – a day in Florence

Today was quite a change for me, a whole day in one place, and in company. That doesn’t happen very often, either home or away!

1st September – a birthday with a view

31st August – a day in Milan

The focus for today was a concert in the evening – I’d travelled yesterday so that I could be sure that I wouldn’t miss it – but before that a day at my desk beckoned.

30th August – back to Italy, and no I’m not bored by it yet!

23rd July – over the sea and an interesting route home

Dieppe – Newhaven – Brighton – St Pancras – Sheffield – Stockport – Crewe – Wrenbury

22nd July – through Brittany to Rouen and Dieppe

Nantes – Rennes – Granville – Caen – Rouen Rive Droite – Dieppe

21st July – into France for a look around Nantes and a glimpse of their famous elephant

Geneve – Lyon Part Dieu – Nantes

20th July – one more adventure in Italy before crossing into Switzerland

Bologna Centrale – Verona Porta Nuova – Milano Centrale – Lausanne – Geneve

19th July – over the hills to baking hot Bologna

Lucca – Pistoia – Poretta Terme – Bologna Centrale

18th July – a day in Lucca
